Job Description
Dakota County Technical College seeks a Biology Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The college is committed to reflecting a diversity of perspective and backgrounds among its administrators, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach biology curriculum, including lecture, labs.
  • Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to: instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, classroom/climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college.

Appointment Dates: January 11 - May 17, 2027.
Teaching Load: Anticipated to be up to a 15 credits for Spring 2026.
Salary Range:
  • Faculty assigned less than 5 credits: Per credit rate of $775 - $1650.
  • Faculty assigned 5 or more credits total: $43,067 - $ 98,660 Annually (Based upon 1.0 FTE of 30 credits per years. Pay will be prorated, based upon credit load). Salary placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2025 - 2027 MSCF Contract, and conducted by the Minnesota State System Office. Initial placement is limited to the step range permitted for new faculty under the MSCF salary schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree with a major in biology or
  • Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in biology.

Preferred Qualification
  • Higher education teaching experience with diverse student populations
  • Experience with learning communities or team teaching
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including web enhanced and online instruction
  • Experience developing and using student centered, active and experiential learning strategies
  • Experience integrating cross cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction
  • Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus wide and classroom learning outcomes
  • Experience with accelerated adult learning
