The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking an expert-level engineer to lead our statewide Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Delivery programs. This role involves directing complex engineering initiatives, advancing BIM and Digital Twin strategies, and providing technical leadership and support across all engineering and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • BIM & Digital Delivery Strategy: Lead UDOT's BIM program and direct Digital Delivery (DD) and Digital Twin (DT) strategies, including optimizing workflows, assessing software platforms, and managing tool support.
  • Team & Operations Management: Supervise staff in BIM roles, overseeing Digital Design (ORD workflows and review processes) and Digital Construction (project viewers, inspection tools, and data integration with pay systems).
  • Contracts & Grant Management: Manage consultant contracts, including defining tasks, scopes, and budgets, and oversee federal grant applications and compliance (e.g., Accelerated Innovation Deployment and Advanced Digital Construction Management System grants).
  • Industry Collaboration: Serve as the UDOT liaison for pooled fund infrastructure studies and actively participate in FHWA peer exchanges with other states.

What You'll Bring
  • Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah.
  • Four (4) years of engineering experience post-licensure. (Candidates nearing the 4-year mark or eligible for reciprocity are encouraged to apply).
  • Demonstrated expertise in BIM, Digital Delivery, and team leadership.

Preferences
  • Proficiency with the Bentley Suite (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge, Synchro, ProjectWise).
  • Experience with ESRI FieldMaps, Trimble Business Center, and the UDOT Project Delivery Network (PDN).
  • Strong presentation, training, and data communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
