Job Description This is a non-sworn, part-time position assigned to the Police Department working 25-30 hours per week with no fringe benefits. Under general supervision performs clerical and filing duties of moderate difficulty; performs data entry; types police reports; and performs related duties as required.

Essential Job Duties Uses computer to perform data entry and data base searches; classifies and files reports and citations; transcribes police reports; reviews citations and other documents for accuracy; sorts and processes citations and necessary correction documents; places records in numerical order; acts as liaison with the courts regarding citation processing; answers telephones; operates various office equipment, including, but not limited to, computer, fax, photocopier, and shredder; and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Correct English usage, including punctuation and spelling; filing and record keeping methods; word processing/computer equipment; and general office practices and procedures. Skills/Abilities to: type 35 net WPM; operate standard and specialized office and duplicating equipment; work cooperatively with others; determine and apply procedures for handling unique problems; work under established procedures and effectively perform detail-oriented work; work rapidly and accurately with names, numbers, codes, and symbols; exercise good judgment with a memory for details; and recognize and keep information confidential.
