Reports to: Director of Multilingual Learners

Salary:  $19.29-$35.36 per hour based on education

Employment Terms: Part-Time, Hourly, 25 hrs/week 10-Month, Schedule and hours based on school needs and tutor availability

Bargaining Unit: AFT 

Position Overview: New London Public Schools is seeking dependable, bilingual tutors to support our multilingual learners through small-group instruction, under the supervision of certified educators. This part-time role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, language support, and student success.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with certified staff to identify student needs and plan instruction
  • Provide instructional support in a small-group, push-in setting
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and mandated instructional minutes
  • Communicate regularly with certified staff regarding student progress
  • Use instructional materials provided by certified staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or ESOL Teacher

Minimum Requirements: 

  • At least two years of successfully completed college coursework or an Associate's degree or proof of fluency
  • Ability to manage student learning programs under the guidance of certified staff
  • Proficiency in English and one or more of the following target languages:
    • Haitian Creole/English
    • French/English
    • Spanish/English
  • Reliability and a strong commitment to consistent scheduling

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working in a classroom setting
  • Experience and/or training in supporting English Learners
