What is a Part Time Baycare RN?

A Part Time Baycare RN is a Registered Nurse employed by BayCare Health System who works less than full-time hours, typically providing patient care on a flexible or reduced schedule. These nurses perform the same duties as full-time RNs, such as assessing patients, administering medication, and collaborating with healthcare teams, but with fewer scheduled hours per week. Part-time positions offer flexibility and may include benefits, depending on the number of hours worked and specific job policies at BayCare.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time RNs at BayCare, and how can they be managed?

Part-time RNs at BayCare may face challenges such as adapting to varying shift schedules, staying updated with team communications, and building strong relationships with full-time colleagues. To manage these, proactive communication and flexibility are essential. Making the most of orientation sessions, using internal communication tools, and seeking feedback can help part-time nurses stay engaged and effective within their units.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time BayCare RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time BayCare RN, you need a current RN license, clinical nursing expertise, and up-to-date knowledge of patient care protocols. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), medication administration systems, and BayCare-specific documentation tools is typically required. Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills help you efficiently coordinate care and adapt to varying schedules. These abilities are vital for delivering safe, high-quality patient care while meeting the unique demands of part-time and shift-based nursing roles.

Job Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN) - IV Specialist, you will work collaboratively with our customers' clinical team to resolve IV placement issues to facilitate the treatment objectives of the treating physician. You may work inside or outside the hospital setting, depending on each individual referral, providing you with a unique career opportunity to observe different treatment protocols and patient challenges. If you are looking for a change and tired of 12 hours on your feet or rushing from patient to patient with no time to provide quality care, this would be the perfect opportunity for you.
This is a part-time opportunity requiring afternoon and evening availability, with coverage extending through midnight. The anticipated schedule is either 3 eight-hour shifts per week (typically 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM) or 2 ten- to twelve-hour shifts per week, with some flexibility needed as scheduling evolves based on business needs.
As an VTP IV Specialist you will:
  • Place peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance
  • Troubleshoot vascular access devices (PIVs, PICCs, and CVCs)
  • Perform PICC and midline maintenance and care
  • Assist with declotting of vascular access lines
  • Support infusion therapy-related needs
  • Troubleshoot IV pumps and access-related issues
  • Educate clinical staff on IV and vascular access device care and use

Scheduling
Nurses in this role visit patients across various customer facilities and must be willing to travel as needed. This is a part-time position with several potential scheduling options based on business needs.
Our preferred schedule is 3 eight-hour evening shifts per week, generally from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. We are also open to candidates interested in 2 ten-hour shifts or 2 twelve-hour shifts per week, with shift times primarily falling during afternoon and evening hours (examples may include 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM, or 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM).
Candidates should be comfortable with some flexibility in scheduling, as shift structures and hours may be adjusted over time based on patient demand and business needs.
The role requires evening availability, weekend coverage, and participation in a holiday rotation.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR and American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Active experience placing peripheral IVs multiple times daily
  • Ultrasound-guided IV placement experience (USGIV required)
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
  • Ability to work independently in clinical settings
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Smartphone required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PICC, midline, or central venous access devices
  • Strong vascular access troubleshooting skills
  • Infusion therapy or IV specialty background

Compensation is based on candidate experience and relevant certifications.
Hourly Pay Range
$50-$60 USD
