Job description

The Peace Center is a major, nonprofit performing arts center serving a growing and sophisticated audience in Greenville, South Carolina. It is the dominant performing arts center in the State and region. Built on a six-acre campus with an aesthetic mix of new architecture and historic buildings, the campus is at the hub of Greenville’s nationally recognized downtown.

The Peace Center venues include the 2,115-seat Peace Concert Hall, the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, the 1,400-capacity outdoor Peace Pavilion, Genevieve’s Lounge, and the Huguenot Mill which includes two event spaces: the Ramsaur Studio and the Huguenot Loft. Opening in 2025 will be two additional music venues: the 250-seat Mockingbird (a listening room), and the 1,150 capacity Coach Factory (a flat floor club).

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Part-Time Bartender to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will create exceptional guest experiences by crafting high-quality beverages, maintaining a clean and inviting bar area, and providing friendly, attentive service. Flexible hours and a fun, fast-paced environment make this the perfect opportunity for someone who loves connecting with people and working in a lively atmosphere.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Include, but are not limited to)

  • Receive and process beverage and food orders from guests and servers
  • Be able to properly use Square POS for orders and modifications
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the concept of Genevieve’s and standard drink recipes
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the Square POS system
  • Process guest payments via credit card
  • Wash and sterilize glassware
  • Prepare garnish for drinks
  • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner
  • Clear, reset and maintain cleanliness of bar and surrounding area
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages
  • Serve food orders to guests seated at the bar
  • Report on all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to manager
  • Assist with the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • Ability to be flexible to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess and maintain a working knowledge of beer, spirits, mixers, and wine
  • Ability to measure and prepare cocktails accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience in cocktail bartending – know classic and common cocktail orders from memory
  • Previous experience with batched cocktails, ability to batch as needed
  • Correct usage of barware
  • Great organizational skills for dealing with diverse duties and staff
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Pleasant, polite manner for dealing with patrons as well as staff

Job Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age
  • TiPS Certification
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Constant standing and walking for up to 6 hours
  • Lifting and maneuvering items up to 25 lbs.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
  • Strong teamwork skills as well as the ability to work alone during certain shifts
