Description
Job Description
Perform duties in relation to the maintenance of park properties to include mowing weed-eating custodial work aquatics maintenance and assistance with special events. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and push pull or drag up to 100 pounds. This position requires working outdoors in extreme temperature swings. Some exposure to mechanical electrical odor and dust hazards. Performs other duties as required and/or assigned. Ability to work weekend duties when assigned. Under immediate supervision performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks for the maintenance of City properties. Participates in any other related work as required or assigned. Mon-Fri 430-1030pm is our current hours of operation. However, you can/will be called to fill in if needed. Work holidays as well.
Essential Job Functions
  • Operates a variety of motorized equipment including trucks; use a variety of power tools.
  • Cuts and removes brush; grass; timber; and other debris from streets; drainage structures; and other city property.
  • Responsible for maintenance of minor equipment.
  • Uses good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly.
  • Serves on standby crew for after hour emergency work as required
  • Performs minor carpentry, painting and concrete work.
  • Keeps storage areas neat and clean
  • Assists other City divisions with regards to City facilities and equipment.
  • May be required to work extended hours and on weekends
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Experience or knowledge in turf and athletic field maintenance (baseball/softball fields)
  • Experience or knowledge in irrigation
  • If experience operating tractors; with "approval" well step in when operator is not available.
  • Swimming pool maintenance experience

Training; Experience and/or Other Requirements:
Six months experience using various power tools and hand tools in the construction or maintenance field. Must be able to work on-call in response to city related operations. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE; SKILLS; AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of city; state; federal regulations pertaining to the operation of equipment in public spaces. Proper techniques and uses of a variety of hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of mechanical; proper care and skillful/safe operation of equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; read addresses; directions; and signs.
