GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Serve as a Part-Time Administrative Assistant for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), managing administrative tasks, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and maintaining compliance. Collaborate with the Accounting Supervisor and support the district's food services department. The goal of this position is to provide accurate and efficient administrative support for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) by ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, maintaining organized records, and collaborating with the Accounting Supervisor and food services department to support the district's meal program operations.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
 





  • Assist with the preparation and submission of all required reports for the National School Lunch Program in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student eligibility for the NSLP Free and Reduced-priced lunch program, ensuring all data is updated regularly and in compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and organize documentation for audits related to the National School Lunch Program.
  • Monitor and track program compliance, including adherence to meal counts, eligibility documentation, and meal reimbursements.
  • Attend mandatory trainings as required by the NSLP.
  • Schedule and organize required monthly meetings with the food service vendor and other bi-annual and/or annual meetings as required by the NSLP.
  • Work closely with the food service vendor to secure grant funding as available.
  • Support the Accounting Supervisor with reconciling meal claims and processing reimbursements from state and federal agencies.
  • Respond to inquiries from school staff, parents, or other stakeholders regarding NSLP procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with ensuring that all required records and paperwork are properly filed and stored for future reference.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials and communications related to the National School Lunch Program as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Supervisor to address any discrepancies or issues regarding the program.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS CAPACITIES
 


  • Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees.  Skilled in typing rapidly and accurately.  High level of personnel and office organization skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
  • Administrative writing skills, verbal communication, professionalism, organization, and teamwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google Suite, and basic office equipment.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
 


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in administrative support or data entry, preferably in a school or public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program guidelines and compliance requirements is a plus, but not required.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time position requiring 15 hours per week / 11 months per year (August through June).
Hours are flexible
Pay : $26/ Hour
This is an unaffiliated position, non-benefits eligible.
