Job description

About the Position

Ensemble Music Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional banjo instructor to teach part-time at Red Pelican Music, our Los Angeles, CA location. We are looking for teachers who will instruct IN PERSON traveling to students' homes and teaching from their own residence. Our school serves students in west LA, including Santa Monica, Culver City, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. Our ideal candidate has experience teaching clawhammer style, would be willing to commute up to 15 miles, can teach multiple instruments (such as piano, voice, bass, or ukulele) and has experience with students age 4 and older.

Teachers can set their availability within our open hours as needed, but both students and school staff appreciate consistency and preference will be given to candidates with greater availability.

Successful candidates will have a strong music background evidenced by a degree in music performance, pedagogy, or equivalent performing experience, a demonstrated love of teaching, experience working with young musicians, a robust appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check. Reliable transportation is a MUST. Preference will be given to candidates who teach multiple instruments, especially piano.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $35-50/hour, with standard IRS mileage reimbursement. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all of our employees after 90 days on the job. Health benefit packages are available for all part- and full-time employees at Ensemble.
