What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time AWS SysOps Administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time AWS SysOps Administrator, you need a solid understanding of AWS cloud services, system administration, and networking, often backed by a relevant degree or AWS SysOps Administrator certification. Familiarity with tools like AWS Management Console, CloudWatch, CLI, and infrastructure-as-code platforms such as CloudFormation is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for managing cloud environments and collaborating with teams. These abilities ensure reliable cloud operations, quick issue resolution, and efficient management of resources in a dynamic, part-time capacity.

How do part-time AWS SysOps Administrators typically manage on-call responsibilities and communication with full-time team members?

Part-time AWS SysOps Administrators often coordinate closely with full-time staff to ensure smooth coverage of on-call duties and incident response. This usually involves clear documentation, scheduled hand-offs, and regular updates via collaboration tools like Slack or Jira. Communication is key, so part-timers are encouraged to participate in team meetings virtually and to proactively update runbooks or tickets. By leveraging cloud monitoring tools and well-defined escalation procedures, part-time admins can effectively support 24/7 operations while maintaining work-life balance.

Chief Engineer
The Opportunity:
At a certain point, experience-based system design can start to look like clairvoyance. When you've developed so many systems that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technology-based challenge, but you can also anticipate and preempt future issues, you're a solutions architect. You've evolved your skills into strategy through a long path of software development accomplishments and the curiosity to understand how all the pieces of an IT ecosystem fit together. Are you ready to use your combination of knowledge, skill, and experience to take on the toughest challenges in GEOINT mission systems?
As a solution architect on our team, you'll translate your customer's IT needs and future goals into a plan by crafting architecture products and design specifications, leading prototyping efforts, and working directly with the customer to help transform the way the customer's organization uses technology to enable the delivery of new mission and enterprise-level capabilities. With your guidance, we'll help transform the way GEOINT mission systems use technology, including cloud migration, integrating advanced technology, and modernizing legacy systems. What do you do next in a career when you've reached this level? You mentor the next set of developers to help them grow into tomorrow's solutions architects.
Work with us and build the future of technology in GEOINT mission systems for the better.
Join us. The world can't wait.

  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience in software engineering, or 10+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to obtain a Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC Certification within 6 months of hire date

Nice If You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience with ground systems, mission control software, and satellite communication protocols
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
  • Experience architecting solutions on Azure using cloud native services such as AKS, Azure Functions for serverless, or AutoScaling
