Job description

Position Summary

The Millington Airport Authority is seeking motivated individuals for part-time Aviation Fueler / Line Service Technician positions at Millington-Memphis Airport.

This position is especially well suited for students pursuing a pilot certificate, Aviation Maintenance Technician (A&P) certification, aviation degree, or other careers in the aviation industry.

This is more than a part-time job. It is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working around general aviation, corporate, military, government, cargo and other aircraft while learning how a busy airport and Fixed Base Operator operate.

Previous aircraft fueling experience is not required. We will train the right candidate.

What You Will Do

As a member of our airport team, you will gain practical aviation experience while assisting with:

  • Providing professional and courteous service to pilots, passengers, flight crews, and airport customers.
  • Fueling aircraft with aviation fuel and oil in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Marshalling aircraft arriving to and departing from the ramp.
  • Towing and positioning aircraft in hangars, on ramps, and in designated parking areas.
  • Securing and chocking aircraft.
  • Assisting with aircraft ground services, including GPUs, lavatory service, potable water, and other support equipment.
  • Operating fuel trucks, tugs, golf carts, and other airport ground-support equipment.
  • Maintaining clean, safe, and professional ramp, FBO, vehicles, and equipment areas.
  • Assisting with fuel-quality-control procedures and inspections.
  • Communicating with pilots, airport operations personnel, the control tower, FBO staff, maintenance personnel, and airport leadership.
  • Assisting with airport operations, including gate access, escorts, special events, and other operational needs.
  • Performing basic cleaning, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep of airport equipment and facilities.
  • Supporting military, government, corporate, general aviation, and other aircraft operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Be able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal safety instructions.
  • Be able to work safely around aircraft, vehicles, equipment, fuel, and active airport operations.
  • Be dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Be willing to learn aircraft fueling, marshalling, towing, and airport procedures.
  • Be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting, climbing ladder and moving equipment weighing up to approximately 70 pounds.
  • Be able to successfully complete required pre-employment screening and airport training.
Preferred Candidates

Preference may be given to applicants who:

  • Are currently enrolled in or pursuing an aviation-related program.
  • Are pursuing a private, commercial, or professional pilot career.
  • Are enrolled in an Aviation Maintenance Technician or A&P program.
  • Have previous aviation, mechanical, customer-service, military, or airport experience.
  • Have experience operating vehicles, equipment, tools, or machinery.

Aviation experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule

This is a part-time position designed to provide flexibility while meeting airport operational needs.

Applicants should be available for a combination of:

  • Weekday shifts
  • Evening shifts
  • Weekend shifts
  • Holiday coverage
  • Occasional call-in or special-event coverage

Scheduling flexibility may make this position particularly suitable for college, flight-school, and technical-school students.
