Part Time; Friday 7am-5pm & Every other weekend 7a-5p

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Technician
*Working with Hospitalist to provide emergency in patient care
What you'll do:
- Practice at the top of your experience
- Treat critically ill and injured patients
- Place long-lines (PICC lines, Drum lines, and Central Lines)
- Perform in-house diagnostics (blood work, radiographs, etc)
- Administer blood transfusions
- Administer vasopressors and pain medications
- Set up the mechanical ventilator and hi-flow nasal oxygen
- Assist with extracorporeal procedures (TPE, hemoperfusion)
- Monitor critically ill patients
- Interact with clients to help them understand their pet's care
- Collaborate with DVMs to provide exceptional care to our hospitalized patients
- Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
- Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
- Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
- Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
- Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
- Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
Who you are:
- An experienced Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician with 2+ years of experience in emergency and/or critical care
medicine
- A team player with a growth mindset
- Self-motivated and a critical thinker
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
- Proficient in "medical math:" comfortable calculating drug doses and making CRIs
- Comfortable with high acuity cases and humane euthanasia
