Job Title: Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher for 5 year olds
Location: Sequoyah Hills Early Enrichment Program, Knoxville, TN
Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Term: August 1, 2026 – May 30, 2027

Job Description

Sequoyah Hills Early Enrichment Program is a Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS)–licensed private church preschool seeking a nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic Pre-K Lead Teacher to work with children ages 4–5. The Lead Teacher will provide a safe, developmentally appropriate, and Christ-centered learning environment that prepares children for kindergarten while supporting their spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth through play-based learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with TDHS licensing requirements and kindergarten readiness standards
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development
  • Supervise children in compliance with TDHS ratios and safety guidelines
  • Observe, document, and assess student progress regularly
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with families
  • Maintain accurate classroom records and licensing documentation
  • Collaborate with the director, staff, and classroom assistants
  • Model Christian values through words and actions
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization in accordance with TDHS health and safety standards

Qualifications

  • CDA, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Experience as a pre-school teacher of children ages 4–6
  • Experience as a Pre- Kindergarten teacher of children ages 4-5
  • Experience as a kindergarten teacher in public or private school setting
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to support and uphold the mission and values of Sequoyah Hills Early Enrichment Program
  • Must meet all TDHS childcare licensing requirements, including:
    • Background check and fingerprinting
    • Health examination and TB screening
    • Completion of required TDHS training hours
    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
