Job description

Summary Hockey Western New York is looking to add game night editors and additional, part-time photographers to their photo team! The HWNY photo editor/photographer will be involved in aspects of the creative, media, public relations and content departments. This is a seasonal, part time position. Hours will be on an as needed basis and as a result, there will not be a consistent schedule. As this is a team effort, photographers and editors do not need to be available for every game and should not expect to work every event or game you are available for. Photographers will need to be local. However, the editing work is open to remote applicants. Editors will primarily be involved in game nights and resulting second edits from games. Photographers will be involved with photographing media days, community events, concerts, business development objectives as well as some game night activations. This is not a primarily sports action photography role. There will be minimal game action photography in this role. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Apply appropriate metadata to all images.
  • Edit, caption and upload select photos to Getty Images during the game.
  • Edit caption and upload second edits from the game to Getty Images within 48 hours.
  • Upload images into appropriate galleries on Photoshelter.
  • Crop and tone select images for in-game social media use, as needed
  • Help coordinate in game needs between the photo team and social media team.
  • Creatively handle studio portraits, on-location events, concerts, press conferences, food, and venue photography.
  • Create high-end still photography for the Buffalo Sabres and Bandits.
  • Produce compelling content on a deadline.
  • Provide production assistance to HWNY Media & Content staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications for the Position:
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Photo Mechanic
  • Strong understanding of metadata and digital asset management
  • Experience with Getty style captioning
  • Demonstrated ability for visual story telling
  • Ability to work with all members of the photo team to ensure the highest quality output
  • Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to work under pressure with high expectations
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, and weekends as needed
  • Strong understanding of on camera and off camera lighting

Compensation This role pays between $35.00 to $50.00 an hour. NOTE: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity. Work Environment & Physical Demands. This role operates in both an office setting and in a live events setting. Live event coverage does consist of being around loud stadium noises and crowds. Candidate must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving boxes up to 20 pounds.
