St. Pius X Catholic School seeks an innovative, energetic art teacher for the 2026-27 school year. St.Pius X Catholic School is located in Mountlake Terrace, WA. This teaching position is part-time at approximately 20 hours/week (.5 FTE). There is a possibilty of expanding the position to full-time depending upon the experience of the applicant.
We have one class per grade in preschool through 8th grade with a total of 165 students. The mission of St. Pius X Catholic School is to provide a stellar academic education through Catholic discipleship and service. We have a diverse student body with an active parent community as well as a supportive parish priests. The art teacher will work in collaboration with our dedicated and faith-filled preschool-8th grade school staff.
Candidates should be practicing Catholics who are committed to sharing our Catholic faith with students and guiding students to achieve high academic standards. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Art (preferably in education). A teaching certificate is preferred but we will consider highly motivated individuals who are in the process of obtaining a teaching certificate. We are looking for a teacher with a passion for art and the creative process to be part of our supportive and faith-filled school community.
Successful candidates should:
1. Collaborate with the principal in implementing the mission of the Parish and School. This is accomplished by participating in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school's goals and objectives.
2. Assures the selections and organization of curriculum and instruction materials. Knowledge of art standards and ability to demonstrate and teach art methods and procedures to students. The teacher adapts methods and materials to accommodate learner difference and plans for both long term and short-term instructional goals.
3. Assures the development of a process for learning. This is accomplished by presenting a clear description of the learning task and its content. The teacher instructs students, monitors student understanding and reteaches when necessary.
4. Assures the evaluations of students' progress. The teacher utilizes this information to improve the quality of instruction. The teacher maintains accurate and current individual records of the student's progress and shares this information with both the student and the parent.
5. Assures the creation and maintenance of a safe classroom environment that is conductive to learning. The teacher establishes and maintains appropriate behaviors and develops strategies to resolve conflict.
6. Maintain all clearances with CICS and the Safe Environment Program.
Salary: The salary range for this position is from $24,000-$32,000. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
As a part time position benefits are not included.
