A Part Time Architect is a professional who works on architectural projects with reduced hours or on a contract basis. Their responsibilities remain similar to a full-time architect, including designing buildings, creating plans, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role is ideal for those seeking flexibility, such as freelancers, retirees, or individuals balancing multiple commitments. Part-time architects may work independently, for firms, or on specific project-based assignments.

This role often emphasizes self-motivation and excellent organizational skills, as part time architects may need to juggle design work, client meetings, and documentation within condensed hours. Employers value candidates who can manage their workload efficiently while maintaining high standards in their architectural output.

  • Familiarity with municipal and state agency standards, permitting processes, and regulatory frameworks in Connecticut and the Northeast
  • Experience in construction administration and field observation
  • Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Rhino (or comparable 3D modeling tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to project delivery schedules

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
  • Professional licensure (or active pursuit of licensure)
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience delivering public realm projects, including parks, streetscapes, campuses, or waterfronts
