GPI Geospatial, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Mobile Mapping Driver to work from our Columbia, Maryland office. This is a part-time, as-needed position that requires extensive driving of large, specialized survey vehicles supporting mobile mapping operations.
This role is not an entry-level driving position. Successful candidates will have proven experience operating oversized vans or truck-based vehicles for extended durations in live traffic, highway, and work zone environments while transporting sensitive and high-value technical equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate mobile mapping vehicles throughout the Northeastern United States, including the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions, as part of active data-collection crews.
  • Drive oversized vans and truck-style vehicles equipped with LiDAR sensors, navigation systems, and auxiliary power components.
  • Maintain precise lane control, speed consistency, and spatial awareness required for high-accuracy LiDAR data acquisition.
  • Drive in complex operating environments, including interstates, urban corridors, narrow roadways, and active construction or work zones.
  • Transport vehicles to and from project sites, service facilities, storage locations, and regional deployment points.
  • Perform basic vehicle inspections and coordinate maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist the sensor manager with scanner swaps, system testing, and calibration activities as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of documented experience operating large vehicles such as oversized vans, super duty trucks, or similarly sized specialty vehicles.
  • Proven ability to safely manage extended driving assignments, including multi-day regional travel.
  • Demonstrated experience driving in heavy traffic, highway conditions, and constrained or work-zone environments.
  • Experience driving vehicles outfitted with sensitive or specialized equipment is required, not preferred.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record required for final consideration.
  • Ability to confidently operate large vehicles for long durations with a strong safety mindset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States as required by project assignments.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand plans, route instructions, and field directions in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
