Job description

Position Summary The Art program at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria is seeking applications to build a qualified pool of part-time faculty for potential vacancies. Positions are available as needed for the upcoming academic year. Responsibilities and duties may include teaching one or more subjects in the Art History discipline: Art Appreciation, Art History (Survey 1 - Paleolithic to Gothic & Survey 2 - Renaissance to Modern), as well as Art of Mexico, Art of Asia, and American Art, etc.), Drawing, Painting, Design, Digital illustration, and Drawing animation

Successful candidates will be able to provide evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage the classroom environment and to effectively provide instruction to community college students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds. Essential Functions and Qualifications PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes.

Maintain accurate records. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or off-campus classes. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria: Master's in fine arts, art, or art history OR; Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's humanities OR; Equivalent - Candidates requesting equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency in addition to all other required materials.

(NOTE: ''Master's in fine arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also, art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing, or other nonplastic arts.)
