SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers 10 applied bachelor's degrees, more than 40 associate degrees, and 80 professional certificates in 41 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part time instructors to teach in the Digital Gaming and Interactive Media AAS-T associates degree program. All instructor positions require two years work experience- relevant industry experience, college teaching experience and industry certifications are preferred. Experience in three or more of the following areas:

• Autodesk Maya - focus on 3D polygonal character animation for beginners
• Basic beginning character rigging in Maya
• Keyframing and curve editing in the Maya Graph Editor
• Ability to convey emotion, action and movement (storytelling) through short animation
• Preferred real-time game animation experience
• Knowledge of PC & Mac Gaming Hardware and Software

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals
• Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments
• Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum
• Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discrimination
• Teach productive and constructive study skills to students
• Develop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures
• Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements
• Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students
• Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning
• Post the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree or relevant industry experience required; Masters preferred
• 2 years related work experience
• College teaching experience preferred
• Prior e-learning and learning management system (LMS) experience desirable
• Industry certifications preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations

Compensation
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.

Step 3 ranges from $835.95 - $2,507.85
Step 4 ranges from $893.51 - $2,680.54
Step 5 ranges from $916.30 - $2,748.90
Step 6 ranges from $957.08 - $2,871.24

CORRECTIONS OR EXTENDED NOTICES
A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more of in-class teaching at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options. Sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) per month.
