Job description

The Space Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides expertise on space capabilities, space-enabled effects, and the integration of space considerations into planning, analysis, and training. The Space SME enables teams to leverage space systems to support operational awareness, targeting, and decision advantage.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Advise on space domain awareness and space-enabled capabilities.
  • Integrate space considerations into intelligence preparation, operational planning, and targeting processes.
  • Assess the impact of space systems on intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), communications, positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT), and mission effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver space-related briefings, assessments, and training materials.
  • Support planning efforts that synchronize space effects with other operational domains.
  • Assist in training events, exercises, and scenario development as required.
  • Capture lessons learned and provide recommendations to improve space integration.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in military space operations or space integration roles.
  • Knowledge of joint and multi-domain operations.
  • Experience supporting planning, training, or analytical teams preferred.
  • Ability to translate technical space concepts into operationally relevant insights.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting military space operations, space integration, or joint space planning.
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting U.S. Army Special Operations Forces (USASOF), U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOC), Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), or Multi-Domain Operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting military space operations, space integration, or operational planning involving space-enabled capabilities.

Clearance:

  • An Active Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance required

The position is contingent upon candidate’s ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; including compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictional requirements.

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
