Job Summary
The Part-Time Lab Technician conducts urinalysis on probationers as ordered by the courts and referred by Community Supervision Officers. This role ensures accurate testing, proper documentation, and compliance with all chain-of-custody procedures to detect illicit substances or alcohol use.
Major Duties
  • Collects urine samples from male defendants for substance abuse and alcohol testing, as ordered by the court, supervision officer, or Averhealth system.
  • Prepares all required daily tests and paperwork for mailing to Averhealth Systems for scheduled 3:00 p.m. FedEx pickup.
  • Input test results and fees on Corrections Software.
  • Maintains and cleans the lab area.
  • Ensures chain of custody of all urine samples.
  • Testifies in court proceedings as required.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff and probationers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and adapt effectively when working with limited standardization.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
