Job description

Job Title: Part-Time House Manager

Location: Addison, TX 75254

Employment Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Flexibility needed for dog care; occasional evening care, weekend support, and overnight stays when family is traveling.

Compensation: $32 to $36 per hour based on experience.

Start Date: ASAP

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Must be comfortable handling and walking large, non-aggressive athletic dogs (100+ lbs).
  • Ability to flex schedule for evening, weekend, or overnight dog care as needed.
  • Professional English communication skills required; Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.

About Our Family

We're a busy, driven household in the Dallas area with demanding consulting careers and a calendar that's rarely quiet. With a hybrid schedule and regular travel, we're happiest when home runs like a well-orchestrated machine - calm, polished, and handled.

We're also in the middle of a major renovation, which means our days include a steady rotation of contractors, cleaners, landscapers, and deliveries. We're organized, detail-driven, and high-standard in the best way: things have a place, and we love when the home looks (and feels) put together.

And then there are our "boys"- two 100-pound Rhodesian Ridgebacks with big hearts and bigger energy. They're not aggressive, just large, lively, and deeply loved. They anchor our daily rhythm, and caring for them well is non-negotiable.

Our adult children and grandkids visit often, and we genuinely enjoy hosting - from casual family dinners to the occasional client gathering. Our home reflects who we are: intentional, welcoming, and well cared-for. Inclusivity and respect are core values here, and we're looking for someone who will become a trusted, steady extension of our household over time.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are sharp, proactive, and deeply detail-oriented. You notice when the books on the shelf are crooked and straighten them without being asked. You take initiative, solve problems independently, and know when to loop in the family versus handle something yourself. You read the room and communicate in a way that is effective and efficient -- never creating noise, always adding value.

You genuinely love dogs. You are comfortable managing two large, athletic dogs on walks and are not intimidated by their size. You bring good energy into the home and work with a quiet confidence that earns trust over time.

You are someone who thrives in active and dynamic environments. You have a schedule that offers natural flexibility. Weekend availability is a plus, as is the rare ability to travel with the family to watch the dogs when they head out of town.

Key Responsibilities

Pet Care

  • Morning feeding daily; occasional evening feeding
  • Two walks per day (morning and midday, 20-30 minutes each)
  • Administer medications (pills in food and a serum)

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain existing household organization systems with attention to detail
  • Daily resets of the home, including kitchen, laundry area, and main living spaces

  • Seasonal swaps: decor, bedding, holiday decorations
  • Indoor plant care
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed
  • Event and holiday prep: client dinners, family gatherings, and holidays

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as the on-site contact for weekly cleaners, landscapers, pool service, and contractors
  • Manage vendor schedules and communicate priority items and problem areas
  • Coordinate with cleaners on deep clean needs (ceiling fans, refrigerator, oven, pantry, baseboards, vacuum, etc.)
  • Support upcoming garage organization project by coordinating with the design team
  • Manage outdoor spaces: wipe down outdoor kitchen, maintain outdoor furniture covers, occasional pool skimming as needed

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; manage running supply lists
  • Grocery shopping (transitioning from family to house manager over time)
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Chewy, etc.)
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, gift shopping and wrapping
  • Sort mail, unpack and put away deliveries, break down boxes and recycle
  • Purchase and replace fresh flowers regularly

  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry with careful attention to garment care (what goes in the dryer vs. what does not)
  • Ironing and steaming as needed
  • Manage guest room linens and towel rotation
  • Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked

Meal Support

  • Prepare and lay out groceries for planned dinners
  • Keep kitchen clean and reset throughout the day
