Job Description:
Guardia de cruce de calles en los cruces escolares durante las horas en que los niños van o regresan de la escuela. Dirige las acciones de los niños y el tráfico en las intersecciones de las calles para garantizar un cruce seguro. DEBERES DE TRABAJO:
- Trabajar en un cruce peatonal asignado; a medida que llegan los niños, llevarlos de forma segura al otro lado de la calle, vigilando de cerca el tráfico y deteniendo a los automóviles si es necesario.
- Observar el tráfico vial para determinar el mejor momento para cruzar la calle; ingresar a los niños en los lugares de cruce designados; escoltar y ayudar a los niños y peatones según sea necesario para garantizar un cruce seguro.
- Controlar de forma eficaz una paleta de PARE (STOP) para facilitar a los usuarios de la vía que se aproximen una visión clara y totalmente directa del mensaje de pare de la paleta durante todo el movimiento de cruce.
- Preparar la zona de cruce escolar colocando conos de advertencia en la calle y encendiendo luces intermitentes a fin de garantizar la seguridad. Cuando los niños hayan terminado de cruzar, retirar los conos de la calle y apagar las luces.
- Inspeccionar toda la señalización de cruce y las condiciones de la calle para detectar daños y notificar a las autoridades competentes a fin de que el problema pueda solucionarse inmediatamente.
- Monitorear la conducta de los niños y educarlos sobre los procedimientos de seguridad vial.
- El proceso se repite dos veces al día cuando los niños van y regresan de la escuela.
- Comunicar todos los peligros de seguridad al Coordinador de Guardias de Cruce.
CALIFICACIONES MÍNIMAS:
- Algunos conocimientos sobre las leyes locales de tránsito y seguridad vial básica.

REQUISITOS FÍSICOS:
- La habilidad para cumplir con las exigencias físicas arriba definidas.
- Visión corregible de al menos 20/40 en ambos ojos.
- Campo de visión de 70° en el meridiano horizontal en cada ojo.
- La habilidad para reconocer los colores de las señales de tráfico y los dispositivos que muestran el rojo, verde y ámbar estándar.
- NOTA: Las personas declaradas daltónicas estarán limitadas a las intersecciones sin semáforos.
- No tener una pérdida auditiva promedio en el mejor oído superior a 40 decibelios a 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz y 2,000 Hz con o sin aparato auditivo.
