Job description

Title: Part-Time House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support)

Location: Avon Lake, OH 44012

Employment Type: Part-time (10-15 hours/week)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $25-30/hour, based on experience

Requirements:

  • Can maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Must have reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided for errands completed during work hours)
  • Comfortable working with a small dog in the home

Proposed Schedule: 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday): 4 hour shifts (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) flexible on daytime hours.

About the Family:

We are a loving, lively family of three, along with a playful 4-year-old dog who brings plenty of joy and energy into our home. Both parents work full-time - one primarily in the office and the other splitting time between home and office - and with occasional work travel a few times per quarter, our weeks tend to move quickly.

We've recently moved into a new home and are focused on creating a space that feels calm, organized, and supportive of our busy schedules. Having thoughtful, consistent meal planning and preparation is the biggest way we're looking to create more balance in our day-to-day lives, and this will be the primary focus of this role.

Beyond meal prep, we're hoping for light household support as time allows - things like staying on top of laundry, organization, errands, and daily resets - so that when we're home, we can spend more quality time together. If you enjoy cooking, take pride in keeping a home running smoothly, and like supporting an active family in a warm, collaborative way, we'd love to hear from you!

Who You Are/What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who is organized, reliable, and proactive. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, take initiative, and thrive in the dynamic nature of a busy household. You should be comfortable working independently, anticipating needs, and following direction when needed, all while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.

The role requires managing meal planning and prep, household tasks, and occasional errands, with the ability to stay flexible in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is designed around meal planning and preparation as the top priority, laundry as the secondary priority, with additional household support handled on an as-time-allows basis within the scheduled hours. We value clear communication and realistic expectations, and will work together to prioritize tasks week to week.

Primary Priority: Meal Planning & Preparation
  • Plan and prep healthy meals/snacks for adults and kids (4-5x dinner meals per week).
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch and batch-cook weekly meals based on dietary needs and preferences.
  • Grocery shop and manage meal-related items.
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and maintain kitchen tidiness.
Secondary Priority: Laundry & Linen Care
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels).
  • Iron and steam laundry, as needed.
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies.
Household Management & Organization
  • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys).
  • Reset and tidy rooms daily; prepare the home for cleaning services.
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, decor, bedding).
  • Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, and vacuum high-traffic areas.
Inventory Management & Errands
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies.
  • Collaborate with family to manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target).
  • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, donation drop offs, dry cleaning, gift shopping, etc.
  • Retrieve mail and packages from outside.
Pet Care
  • Walk the family dog daily; brush weekly.
Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Supervise service providers onsite (cleaners, contractors, landscapers).
  • Oversee and tidy outdoor patio.
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge & oven).
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom).
Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
  • Collaborate with family to schedule and/or cancel appointments as needed.

When applying, please include the following:

  1. A short message describing why this role is a great fit for you.
