Job description

Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant

Location: Laguna Beach, CA

Employment Type: Part-time (15-20 hours/week)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $35-40/hour (based on experience)

Schedule:
  • 3 days a week, ideally Tuesday, Thursday, and a third day agreed up, with a flexible AM start time, roughly 5-6 hours each day.
  • Additional hours once a month to support a date night.
Requirements:
  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation (reimbursed for mileage)
  • Comfortable signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
About Our Family:

We are a warm, lively family of five, navigating the complexities of busy schedules while focusing on creativity and connection. One parent has an extremely demanding career and schedule, working remotely with frequent travel. Our children are in various stages of school, with one attending preschool and the others in elementary school. Key Responsibilities:
  • Household Management & Organization:
    • Create and maintain organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys).
    • Reset and tidy rooms daily, prep for cleaning services.
    • Take ownership of family calendar (appointments, holidays, extracurriculars) to ease the parent's mental load.
    • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, decor, bedding).
    • Coordinate guest visits and donation drop-offs/pick-ups.
    • Assist with packing/unpacking for travel and seasonal transitions.
    • Coordinate and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers).
    • Care for indoor plants.
  • Inventory Management & Errands:
    • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies.
    • Manage shopping lists and orders (Amazon, Costco, Target).
    • Run errands (grocery shopping, returns).
    • Organize mail and handle deliveries/packages.
  • Meal Planning & Preparation:
    • Plan, prep, and execute simple, healthy dinners for the family with guidance (3x per week)
    • Shop for groceries based on meal planning needs
    • Pack school lunches.
    • Clean kitchen post-prep and maintain tidiness.
  • Pet Care:
    • Schedule and coordinate vet/grooming/daycare appointments for pets.
    • Keep pet supplies stocked and organized.
  • Vehicle Management:
    • Oversee vehicle maintenance (oil changes, inspections).
    • Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized.
    • Track registration, insurance, and service schedules.
  • Vendor & Property Oversight:
    • Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes.
    • Oversee landscaping and manage ongoing property tasks.
  • Family Support & Child Assistance:
    • Assist with packing and unpacking backpacks, clothing, or snacks for school.
    • Assist with getting extracurricular items ready and packed.
    • Washing lunchboxes.
    • Help with child-related errands.
    • Occasionally provide light supervision/playtime with kids as needed.
  • Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:
    • Perform occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards).
    • Refresh specific areas (entryways, garage, mudroom).

    • Organize special projects (toy storage, seasonal decor).
  • Personal Assistant
    • Scheduling and managing mom's calendar - dentist, therapist, meds, DMV appts, as well as the kids appointments (pediatrician, dentist, etc).
