Job description

Our Catmobile Program is seeking skilled, compassionate, and high energy Veterinary Technicians to join our fast-paced, high-quality/high-volume feline mobile clinic. Our clinic delivers exceptional low-cost spay, neuter and vaccine services directly to cat owners across the region through our modern, fully equipped mobile units. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is passionate about making high-quality care accessible for cat owners in the community. Full-time and part-time candidates will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare cats for spay and neuter procedures, including pre-operative exams, drug calculations, anesthesia induction, and monitoring

  • Provide skilled surgical assistance to veterinarians during high volume spay/neuter procedures

  • Monitor vital signs and take appropriate action when necessary

  • Administer core vaccines and other medications according to clinic protocols

  • Manage efficient patient flow from intake through discharge in a high-volume environment (upwards of 30 cats per day)

  • Perform post-operative care, including pain management, incision checks, and recovery monitoring

  • Educate owners on post-operative care, vaccination schedules, and at-home instructions

  • Set up and break down the mobile clinic daily, maintain a sterile and organized surgical environment, and make recommendations for inventory supplies

  • Maintain accurate medical records

Essential Clinical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Anesthetic protocols

  • Accurately calculate medication dosages and fluid boluses

  • Perform anesthetic induction to include Feline endotracheal intubation

  • IV catheter placement and anesthetic emergency management

  • Support high-volume, high-quality (HQHV) spay/neuter procedures

  • Maintain strict adherence to controlled substance protocols

  • Monitor anesthesia and guide anesthesia workflow

  • Provide thorough post-anesthetic patient care and recovery monitoring

  • Utilize feline fear-free handling techniques whenever possible

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience with preference for surgical, anesthesia, or high volume spay/neuter experience

  • Strong feline handling skills and comfort working with cats in a clinical setting

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high volume surgical environment while upholding high standards of patient care and safety

  • Strong veterinary medical knowledge and advanced technical skills

  • Experience with controlled substance protocols and handling

  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a mobile clinic setting.

  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record (training on mobile unit provided)
