Job description

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER T32, PDD2264000 and is part of the AZ 161st Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. Learn more about this agency Duties Help This position is located at the 161st Air Refueling Wing in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor and/or flight chief, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Security Forces Flight. THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guar, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • The work requires a valid driver's license and the incumbent must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment.
  • Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours. Overtime may be required.
  • May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, respirator masks, and/or helmets.
  • Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
  • The maximum entry age for DoD Law Enforcement is 37. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37 will not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions.
  • For exceptions to the maximum entry age, see DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 336, January 22, 2015, Incorporating Change 1, December 1, 2017, Enclosure 3, Section 3.
  • Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments.
Qualifications Military Grades: SSgt/E-5 to MSgt/E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess or able to obtain 3P0X1 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
