The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Senior UAS Pilot / Geomatics Specialist (Part-Time) to support our Geomatics Technologies Team. This position will focus on planning and conducting drone operations, supporting field data acquisition efforts, and assisting project teams with aerial survey and remote sensing activities.
The successful candidate will support a variety of projects involving UAS aerial data collection, mapping, infrastructure inspections, environmental monitoring, and other geomatics-related applications. This position is ideal for candidates with drone piloting experience who enjoy field-based work and flexible scheduling.

Essential Job Functions:
UAS Flight Operations
  • Conduct safe and compliant drone operations in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Perform pre-flight planning, equipment checks, and mission preparation.
  • Collect aerial imagery, video, LiDAR, and other remote sensing data.
  • Maintain flight logs and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate field activities with project managers and technical staff.

Field Data Collection & Technical Support
  • Support geomatics, mapping, and remote sensing projects.
  • Assist with data collection, quality control, and project documentation.
  • Support equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in field surveys and site assessments as required.

Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 107 requirements and company safety procedures.
  • Follow project-specific safety requirements and client protocols.
  • Report health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Participate in required safety and technical training.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) in Geomatics, Geography, GIS, Engineering, Hydrography, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience supporting UAS operations, geomatics, remote sensing, surveying, mapping, or related geospatial services.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Experience operating UAS/drone platforms for commercial applications.
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations and safe flight operations.
  • Experience with GPS, mapping, remote sensing, or geospatial technologies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and collaboratively with project teams.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with photogrammetry, LiDAR, or aerial mapping.
  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS.
  • Experience supporting surveying, engineering, environmental, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of remote sensing and geomatics workflows.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry field equipment up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
  • Part-time position with flexible scheduling based on project needs.
  • Primarily field-based work with some office and remote activities.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and terrain during field operations.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $40.00-$100.00 hourly
