MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is searching for a part-time Advanced Practice Provider. The successful applicant will be an APP interested in working part-time to care for patients at MUSC Health's Urgent Care located in Elgin, SC. The APP will join a busy and thriving urgent care working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers and must be able to work in a high-volume clinic while providing compassionate patient care.

Job Description
MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is searching for a part-time Advanced Practice Provider. The successful applicant will be an APP interested in working part-time to care for patients at MUSC Health's Urgent Care located in Elgin, SC. The APP will join a busy and thriving urgent care working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers and must be able to work in a high-volume clinic while providing compassionate patient care.
About MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care:
Elgin Urgent Care Medical Pavilion provides 24/7 access to immediate medical care for non-emergent conditions. The center focuses on delivering prompt and convenient treatment for urgent but non-emergency health issues.
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.
    • Physician Assistant

OR
  • APRN
  • FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an APP in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • DHEC and DEA

Position Highlights:
  • 24-30 hours per week

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
  • Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
  • Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
  • Willingness to obtain DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals
  • Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency upon hire as approved by the Primary Supervising Physician:
    • Administer local anesthesia
    • Incision and Drainage
    • Suturing lacerations
    • Basic splinting
    • Wound care
    • Cerumen Disimpaction
    • Foreign body extractions
    • Non-surgical epistaxis management
    • Pelvic exam
    • Insertion of IVs for fluids/Starting Fluids for dehydration
    • Basic EKG Interpretation with Physician over-read
  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
  • Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
  • APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law
