Department Summary
The Mathematics Department faculty endeavor to introduce students to mathematics as in important area of human thought, to help students appreciate the beauty and scope of mathematics, to give students the mathematical knowledge necessary to teach mathematics at the secondary or elementary level, to prepare students for careers in actuarial science, business, government, and industry, to serve the needs of students in fields, which rely on mathematics, and to prepare students for graduate studies in Mathematics and Statistics. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree with optional concentrations in Pure Mathematics and Statistics, as well as minors in Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science. We also offer graduate programs leading to a Masters of Arts in Teaching Mathematics. The Mathematics Department is located in the new $100M Dana Mohler-Faria Center for Science and Mathematics, and in addition to serving over 350 majors, we provide a large number of courses for the general student population.

Essential Duties
The Department of Mathematics at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Courses Part-Time Faculty may be asked to teach include: developmental math, math for elementary education, pre calculus and calculus.
Candidates must demonstrate ability to use technology effectively and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Candidates must develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning, and encourage student success to all students regardless of race.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Mathematics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience preferred.

This posting is for potential part-time, non-benefited, day program faculty positions in the Mathematics Department. The current salary rate for a typical 3 credit lecture course taught by a new part-time faculty member in the day program is $4,005.00, paid through bi-weekly payroll direct deposit. Rates may vary for other course types based on contact hour equivalencies.
