Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
  • The primary purpose of the part time Activities Assistant is to assist the Activities Director to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct ACTIVITY PROGRAMS in accordance with current existing Federal, State and Local standards, as well as established policies and procedures, to assure that the spiritual, diversional, emotional, recreational and social needs and preferences of each resident is met and/or maintained. Starting wage starts at $19.00 per hour depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Assists the Activity Director in organizing a program of both individual and group activities based on the needs, interests and abilities of the resident(s). A balance of recreational activities including physical, social, religious, arts and crafts, diversional and intellectual is preferred.
  • Communicates strengths and weaknesses of individual resident participation in group and self-directed activities to health care team.
  • Works effectively with other staff and secures their support for activities.
  • Assists with outing schedule for purposes of shopping, recreation and attends as directed by the activity director
  • Works with the activity director in remaining in budget for activity programs
  • Assists residents to maintain involvement in community through knowledge of community events, resident's previous involvement and interests.
  • Coordinates with the activity director community groups in an organized, safe, and reciprocally beneficial experience for visiting groups and our residents.
  • Assists in activities when resident is unavailable and assists with large activity or functions within the facility.
  • Provides resident activities on Saturdays and evenings

Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must obtain/maintain valid Oregon Food Handler's Card.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies and persons.
