POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of Tulsa SPCA. Responsibilities include processing deposits, recording invoices and payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with monthly reconciliations and reporting, and supporting compliance with organizational accounting procedures and internal controls. The Part-Time Accountant will work closely with leadership, the CPA, and the Finance Committee to ensure accurate and timely financial processing while supporting the mission and operational goals of Tulsa SPCA.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The position is based in Tulsa, OK.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Financial Processing:
  • Process and record donations, deposits, invoices, payroll entries, and other financial transactions accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile bank deposits and credit card transactions with financial records and reporting systems.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and filing systems.
  • Prepare and process checks for approved invoices and vendor payments.
  • Enter Positive Pay information and assist with financial safeguards and internal controls.
  • Ensure financial system deposits match bank and processor deposits.
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting preparation.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate with the organization's CPA regarding month-end and year-end financial activities.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and required financial documentation.
  • Record payroll entries and assist with retirement reporting requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and segregation of duties procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and strengthen financial operations.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
  • High proficiency in QuickBooks Online required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Physical Environment
  • Primarily an office setting when not working offsite events or assisting with special projects.
  • Exposure to odors, wet, humid, and dusty conditions, airborne particles, fur, hair, animal waste, and various cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • May be exposed to sick, injured, and aggressive animals.
  • Ability to bend, walk, reach, push, pull, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel to area events/locations in year-round weather conditions.

SCHEDULE
Part-time position requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week. A majority of work must be performed onsite. Some flexibility in scheduling may be available based on organizational needs.
