Job description

Minnesota Montessori Accelerated Learning Center is seeking a Lead Teacher to support our Toddler classroom!

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require previous lead teaching experience in a licensed childcare setting. Montessori experience preferred!

Required Shift: Monday - Friday, 12:30pm - 5:30pm

Compensation: $18 - $19 an hour, based on education and experience

Location: 3150 Eagle Creek Blvd. Shakopee

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of students and staff at all times.
  • Carries the primary responsibility for the development and implementation of the educational environment and curriculum consistent with American Montessori Society standards and Premier policies and procedures.
  • Develops lesson plans and manages the learning experiences for students to ensure the needs of the group and individual students are met.
  • Maintains accurate record-keeping and student assessment, including, but not limited to, daily observations, progress updates, year and annual progress reports/portfolios, attendance rolls, accident and behavior reports and where applicable, standardized assessment, meeting all due dates as required.
  • Develops positive relationships with children and families encouraging bonding to the class and the larger school community, communicates child's development based on the individualized tracking of student progress and when necessary, communicate developmental needs to parents which may include strategies, intervention, or support from outside specialists. Maintains regular verbal and written communication with parents.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, well-organized, and attractive prepared environment consistent with Montessori pedagogy. Ensures that the classroom and associated areas (including playground) meet all licensing, safety, and health requirements.
  • Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
