Part Time Academic information

What is a part time academic?

Part-time academics are educators or researchers who work at educational institutions, such as universities or colleges, on a part-time basis rather than as full-time staff. They may teach courses, assist in research, or provide academic support while balancing other professional or personal commitments. These roles often offer flexible hours and can be ideal for those pursuing further studies or working in another field. Part-time academics are essential in bringing real-world experience and diverse perspectives to academic settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time academic, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Academic, you generally need subject-matter expertise, a relevant advanced degree (often a master's or doctorate), and prior teaching or research experience. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) like Blackboard or Canvas, as well as virtual classroom technologies, is typically required. Strong communication, time management, and adaptability help you engage diverse learners and balance multiple responsibilities. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering effective instruction, supporting student success, and managing flexible academic schedules.

What are some common challenges faced by part time academics, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time academics often face challenges such as balancing multiple teaching assignments across institutions, limited access to campus resources, and less time for research or professional development. Effective time management and clear communication with department heads can help address these issues. Building connections with full-time colleagues and participating in available faculty meetings or workshops can also foster a sense of community and provide access to valuable resources and support.

Job description

At Twinkle Toes Nanny Agency, every day begins with a simple mission: to help families thrive by connecting them with caregivers who bring warmth, reliability, and a genuine love for children. As our community of families continues to grow, we’re opening our doors to new nannies who want to be part of that story.

We’re looking for individuals who walk into a home with confidence, creativity, and kindness. Those who know how to make a toddler belly laugh, soothe a newborn, or keep a busy household running smoothly. If you’re someone who loves what you do and shows up with heart, we want to meet you.

We have opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions, depending on what fits your life best:

Full-time roles usually range from 30–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. These positions are ideal for nannies looking for long-term, stable placements with consistent routines.

Part-time roles offer incredible flexibility, perfect for students, teachers, or anyone seeking meaningful work that still fits around other commitments. Whether you prefer mornings, afternoons, or a few full days each week, we strive to find the right match.

This is a flexible, as-needed position with shifts that vary based on family requests.

Candidates with newborn, infant, toddler, and school-aged experience are encouraged to apply!

Compensation:

$18 - $28 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Employ a variety of developmentally appropriate techniques.
  • Observe and get to know the child.
  • Guide the child to develop academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.
  • Communicate with parents regularly about their child's development and experiences.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in caring for children across various age groups, from newborns to school-aged.
  • Ability to employ a variety of developmentally appropriate techniques to engage and nurture children.
  • Proven track record of guiding children to develop academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.
  • Strong communication skills to regularly update parents on their child's development and experiences.
  • Ability to adapt to different family dynamics and household routines with ease and professionalism.
  • Reliable and punctual, ensuring consistency and trustworthiness for the families you support.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, to ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.
