We're seeking a dedicated and caring Part-Time Teacher to join our early learning classrooms. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping children grow and develop, and who understands the importance of creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Our program combines strong academic foundations, character development, Abeka curriculum, STE(AI)M, robotics, creativity, and hands-on learning. As a teacher with us, you'll play a key role in bringing this vision to life and providing consistent, nurturing care to every child.


What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities

The Part-Time Teacher will:

  • Provide loving care and supervision to children throughout the day.
  • Support classroom routines, transitions, and learning activities that promote social-emotional learning, early literacy, math, science, art, music, and hands-on discovery.
  • Assist with implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities, including outdoor play and rest time.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that promotes learning and exploration.
  • Supervise children closely at all times, both indoors and outdoors, and ensure their physical and emotional safety.
  • Support children with toileting, diapering, handwashing, feeding, and personal care needs as required.
  • Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and Virginia licensing standards to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Communicate respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and leadership to build strong relationships and a positive classroom culture.
  • Document observations, incidents, and classroom needs as required to ensure effective communication and decision-making.
  • Help create a positive classroom culture where children feel known, valued, and supported in their learning journey.
  • Assist with special activities, STE(AI)M projects, summer camp activities, and enrichment experiences that promote creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Requirements
Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, school, camp, or similar setting.
  • A patient, professional, and warm attitude towards children and families.
  • Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively as part of a team, and communicate effectively with colleagues and leadership.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills to promote a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and good judgment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Ability to meet Virginia child care background check and training requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • CDA, early childhood coursework, or related training preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

This role may require the ability to:

  • Sit, stand, bend, kneel, lift, and move throughout the day to ensure child safety and supervision.
  • Lift or assist young children as needed to support their physical and emotional development.
  • Supervise children on the playground and during classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to child safety needs, and take prompt action in emergency situations.
