Part-Time Teacher

Location: 601 Southlake Blvd, North Chesterfield, VA 23236

Schedule: Part-Time | Monday–Friday | Flexible shifts available

Reports To: Center Director / Lead Teacher


Position Summary

Kids Academy of Learning & Excellence is seeking a caring, dependable, and professional Part-Time Teacher to support our early learning classrooms. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children, understands the importance of structure and safety, and can help create a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Our program blends strong academic foundations, character development, Abeka curriculum, STE(AI)M™, robotics, creativity, and hands-on learning. We are looking for a teacher who can support this vision while providing consistent, nurturing care to every child.


What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities

The Part-Time Teacher will:

  • Provide attentive, loving, and safe care for children throughout the day.
  • Support classroom routines, transitions, meals, rest time, outdoor play, and learning activities.
  • Assist with implementing age-appropriate lessons, including early literacy, math, science, art, music, social-emotional learning, and hands-on discovery.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Supervise children closely at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Support children with toileting, diapering, handwashing, feeding, and personal care as needed.
  • Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and Virginia licensing standards.
  • Communicate respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and leadership.
  • Document observations, incidents, and classroom needs as required.
  • Help create a positive classroom culture where children feel known, safe, and supported.
  • Assist with special activities, STE(AI)M™ projects, summer camp activities, and enrichment experiences.

Requirements
Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, school, camp, or similar setting.
  • A warm, patient, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and good judgment.
  • Ability to meet Virginia child care background check and training requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • CDA, early childhood coursework, or related training preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

This role may require the ability to:

  • Sit, stand, bend, kneel, lift, and move throughout the day.
  • Lift or assist young children as needed.
  • Supervise children on the playground and during classroom activities.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to child safety needs.
