What challenges do part time ABA therapists face and how can they be managed?

Part-time ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapists often face challenges such as building rapport with clients in limited hours, maintaining consistency in intervention strategies, and managing communication with the broader care team. To address these, it's helpful to use clear documentation, actively participate in team meetings, and maintain regular communication with supervisors and families. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are key to ensuring that client progress is tracked effectively, even with a part-time schedule.

What is a part time ABA therapist?

Part-time ABA therapists are professionals who provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to clients, typically children with autism, on a part-time basis. They work with individuals to improve specific behaviors such as communication, social skills, and daily living skills through structured interventions. Part-time ABA therapists often collaborate with other professionals and families to implement treatment plans and track progress, usually working flexible or reduced hours compared to full-time staff.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a part time ABA therapist?

To thrive as a Part Time ABA Therapist, you generally need a background in psychology or education, experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities, and often certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Familiarity with data collection software, ABA-specific tools, and standardized behavior assessment systems is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and adaptability are essential soft skills for building rapport with clients and collaborating with families and teams. These skills ensure effective intervention delivery, accurate progress tracking, and positive outcomes for clients receiving ABA therapy.

BehaviorCare Therapy
Looking to pick up flexible part-time hours to supplement your current job or school schedule? This could be the perfect fit. We're hiring behavior technicians to work with children on the autism spectrum in their homes during afternoon and evening hours.
As an RBT/BT at BehaviorCare Therapy, you'll be working directly in the homes of families, providing 1-on-1 support to children with autism or developmental delays. Your job is to help them build daily living skills, communication, independence, and confidence - all through play-based ABA therapy designed by a licensed BCBA.
You'll work with the same children consistently, helping them make real progress in their everyday environments - whether that's helping a 3-year-old learn to request snacks or helping a 7-year-old stay focused through a morning routine.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your patience, energy, and creativity can make a lasting difference. Every child is unique, and you'll get the training and support to meet them where they're at.
Why This Role Might Be a Great Fit for You:
  • You're looking for extra income with part-time, afternoon/evening flexibility
  • You want to work 1:1 with kids and make a meaningful impact
  • You may already work in a school, clinic, or another therapy setting-and want to pick up more hours

We Offer:
  • Pay: $21-$26/hr based on experience
  • Flexible scheduling: tell us when you're available, and we'll match you with clients
  • Health, dental, vision, and group life insurance for those working 20+ hours/week

What You'll Do:
  • Work one-on-one with kids in their homes to help them learn and grow using play-based ABA techniques
  • Follow simple step-by-step treatment plans made by your supervisor (BCBA)
  • Track progress during each session using an easy data system on your phone or tablet (don't worry - we train you how to do this)
  • Team up with your BCBA and fellow techs to keep things consistent and effective - you're never doing this alone
  • Give feedback to families about how the session went and celebrate small wins together!

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children (SPED Para, 1:1 Aide or Classroom Aide, after-school programs, caregiving, autism.)
  • ABA experience a plus!
  • Afternoon/evening availability (weekends a plus)
  • Reliable transportation

$21 - $26 an hour
