Kettering Health Huber/Preble|Huber Heights| Part Time |3rd Shift


This position will work one shift per week at the Huber Heights freestanding ED, and one shift per week at the Preble County Freestanding ED, with Huber Heights being your home cost center.

Registered Respiratory Therapists provide high level clinical respiratory care under indirect technical supervision, as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Lead. Responsibilities include assessing patients, performing diagnostic tests to determine the underlying causes and extent of illness or injury, operating therapeutic gas administration equipment, administering medication therapy as prescribed, managing mechanical ventilators, assessing and developing a plan of care utilizing approved therapist driven protocols and providing emergency care during medical emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Graduate of a 2-4 year AMA approved Respiratory Program
  • Required Licenses[Ohio, United States] Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist
    Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner for the State of OhioRRT Credentials issued by the National Board of Respiratory CareCurrent BLS with ACLS, PAL or NRP for respective area
  • Required SkillsAcute/critical care knowledge as it relates to cardiopulmonary disease statesAbility to precept acute/critical care areasSupervisory capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians / providers.
  • Ensure compatibility with physician orders.
  • Perform respiratory protocols as outlined in system policies.
  • Set up and administer all routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures to patients.
  • This includes inhalants, mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems.
  • Perform invasive and noninvasive testing to assist in treating chronic and acute respiratory illnesses.
  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results.
  • Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Order repairs when necessary.
  • Evaluate effects of the respiratory therapy treatment plan and recommend modifications when needed.
  • This includes monitoring vital signs, arterial blood gasses, and reviewing patient information.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with medical staff members and assist with qualifying and setting up of home medical equipment.
  • Record all information in the patient legal record and maintain department records.
  • Educate patient on their disease state, wellness, home care, and safety.
  • Provide clinical preceptorship for Respiratory Therapy StudentsAll other duties assigned by departmental leadership.
