What jobs can a 15-year-old get part time?

A 15-year-old can typically work part-time in roles such as cashier, grocery store assistant, fast food worker, babysitter, dog walker, or lawn care helper. However, the types of jobs and the number of hours you can work are regulated by child labor laws, which vary by country and state. Many employers require parental permission and may have restrictions on the types of tasks teens can do. It's important to check local regulations before applying for a job.

What types of part-time jobs are commonly available for 15-year-olds, and what should I expect in terms of work environment and supervision?

Many 15-year-olds find part-time work in retail, food service, or as babysitters, tutors, and lawn care helpers. These roles typically offer flexible hours to accommodate school responsibilities and are usually supervised closely by adult managers or experienced staff. Work environments are generally supportive and prioritize safety and learning, as employers are aware of the age and experience level of young workers. Expect to receive clear instructions and ongoing guidance to help you succeed and build basic job skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time worker at age 15, and why are they important?

To thrive as a part-time worker at age 15, you need a strong work ethic, basic math and communication skills, and often a work permit depending on local labor laws. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, cash registers, or basic computer applications may be required depending on the job. Reliability, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude help young workers stand out and build trust with employers. Developing these skills and qualities is important for gaining early work experience, building responsibility, and establishing a foundation for future employment.
