How much do part finisher jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 24, 2026, the average hourly pay for part finisher in the United States is $20.06, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.35 and $23.08 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a finisher for a job?

A finisher in a job typically refers to a worker responsible for completing and refining products or surfaces, such as sanding, polishing, or applying coatings. This role often requires attention to detail, knowledge of tools and materials, and adherence to quality standards to ensure a finished product meets specifications.

What welding jobs pay $50 an hour?

Part finishers and other skilled welders can earn $50 an hour or more, especially with certifications in advanced welding techniques like TIG or MIG, and experience working in industrial or construction environments. High-paying welding jobs often require specialized skills, safety training, and the ability to work in challenging conditions.

What are some common challenges faced by Part Finishers, and how can they be effectively managed?

Part Finishers often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent quality across high production volumes and working with a variety of materials that may require different finishing techniques. Managing these challenges typically involves staying up-to-date with safety protocols, using precise inspection tools, and collaborating closely with quality control teams. Good communication with supervisors and other production staff is also key to resolving issues quickly and ensuring deadlines are met. Staying organized and proactive in identifying potential defects early can greatly improve efficiency and job satisfaction.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

Part finishers typically do not earn $500,000 annually; such high salaries are usually associated with executive roles, specialized surgeons, or successful business owners. High-paying jobs often require advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes ownership or leadership positions. Most roles in manufacturing or trades pay significantly less than this figure.

What does a Part Finisher do?

A Part Finisher is responsible for completing the final processing of manufactured parts to ensure they meet quality and design specifications. This typically involves tasks such as deburring, polishing, cleaning, sanding, or coating parts after they have been machined or assembled. Part Finishers play a key role in making sure each part has the correct appearance, smoothness, and functionality before it is shipped or used in further assembly. They often use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment, and must pay close attention to detail to spot any defects or imperfections.

What jobs will be eliminated in the next 10 years?

Part finishers, involved in manual finishing tasks, may see reduced demand as automation and advanced manufacturing technologies replace manual labor. Jobs requiring repetitive tasks are increasingly at risk of automation, especially in industries like manufacturing and assembly. Skills in operating automated tools and understanding digital processes can help adapt to these changes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Finisher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Finisher, you need strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and experience with manufacturing or production processes, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with finishing tools such as sanders, grinders, and measuring instruments, as well as knowledge of safety protocols, is typically required. Reliability, time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure high-quality finished products, adherence to safety standards, and efficient workflow in manufacturing environments.

What is the difference between Part Finisher vs Assembly Line Worker?

AspectPart FinisherAssembly Line Worker
Primary RoleRefines and finishes parts to meet quality standardsAssembles components along the production line
Skills & CertificationsAttention to detail, finishing techniques, sometimes certifications in quality controlBasic mechanical skills, safety training
Work EnvironmentWorkshop or manufacturing floor focused on finishing processesAssembly line in a factory setting
Industry UsageManufacturing, metalworking, woodworkingAutomotive, electronics, consumer goods manufacturing

While both roles are part of manufacturing, a Part Finisher focuses on refining and perfecting parts after initial production, ensuring quality and precision. An Assembly Line Worker, on the other hand, is involved in the initial assembly of products, working along a production line. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus.
