Job Summary:

Inspects, operates and maintains all freestyle terrain features, terrain parks, and recreational trail systems. Provides input to management regarding design, layout, construction and maintenance of freestyle features, parks and trails. Perform other tasks, as assigned.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs a variety of trail maintenance tasks, including: shoveling, raking, seeding, mulching, tamping, carrying, lifting, hiking and cutting.
  • Uses hand tools including: rakes, shovels, Pulaski axes, McLeod tools, chain saws, hand saws, pole saws, loppers and hammers.
  • Utilizes 1Risk software to document inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Prepares terrain parks, features and trail systems for public use before the scheduled opening time each day.
  • Conducts ongoing maintenance of the various recreational trail systems, parks and features.
  • Communicates as necessary to ensure management and guests are adequately informed of changing conditions and closures.
  • Works under the direction of the Parks and Trails Supervisor and the Terrain Park Builder to build, maintain and document according to industry best practices and company policies.
  • Contributes to park layout and terrain feature design ideas.
  • Assists in conducting investigations of any park or trail related incidents.
  • Assists in developing new events, as well as in the production of existing special events from concept to completion under the direction of the Parks and Trails Supervisor.
  • Clears trail systems of garbage and other debris.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma required.
  • Must possess a valid Class D driver's license.
  • Must have knowledge of the Freestyle Terrain Notebook or the ability to gain such knowledge.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions effectively.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to engage in a wide variety of physical activities in an alpine environment including walking, and working on uneven surfaces, climbing in and out of equipment, kneeling, squatting, etc.
  • Ability to perform work in all temperature and weather extremes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, ability to use hands to handle tools for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to work periodic overtime as operational needs demand.
  • Ability to safely operate snowmobiles, ATVs, tractors and other equipment on various terrain.
  • Able to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. or more occasionally.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at a proficient level.
  • Ability to ride a mountain bike at a proficient level.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
