THE CITY OF DANVILLE: The City of Danville is located 35 miles southwest of Lexington and is a thriving community with a population of 17,000. The City is a municipal government agency with a highly efficient infrastructure providing a broad range of public services: water and wastewater treatment, police and fire services, 911 emergency dispatch services, parks and recreation, cemeteries, and public works. Responsible To:
Parks & Recreation Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Parks & Recreation Maintenance supervisor, this position will be responsible for supporting the maintenance function for Parks & Recreation facilities. Will assist with the upkeep and cleaning of public parks and structures, mowing athletic fields, planting and trimming trees and shrubs, cleaning restrooms, minor facility repairs, collecting trash, operating various power equipment and tools, and will be responsible for adhering to all safety and health regulations to ensure the safety and enjoyment for all park visitors. The position will also assist the Public Works Department with annual leaf pickup within the City limits as needed.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
โ€ข Ability to work a flexible work schedule, that includes nights, weekends, and holidays as job duties demand.
โ€ข Must be available to work a 40hr+ workweek during peak seasonal times, which runs from April - December.
โ€ข Ability to work in a team environment, with the ability to work across all levels of city officials, employees, agencies, organizations, and the general public.
Education and Experience:
โ€ข HS Diploma or GED.
โ€ข Prior maintenance experience is preferred, but not required.
โ€ข Must have valid and current driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50lbs on regular basis.
โ€ข Walking, twisting, stooping, and bending on a regular basis.
โ€ข Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
โ€ข Ability to climb ladders and structures not to exceed 15 feet above ground level.
Compensation: $15/hr.
