Primary responsibilities include:
  • Mowing, trimming, and weed eating cemetery grounds
  • Assisting with general groundskeeping and seasonal maintenance

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This position requires exposure to weather and temperature extremes. It has an average exposure to chemicals and fumes and must be aware of workplace safety hazards. Overtime may be required. This position works primarily outdoors and is exposed to dust, pollens, noise, fumes and odors.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
• This position requires normal physical mobility (movement from place to place); agility (movement while in place); balance; coordination and endurance to handle routine maintenance materials and tools. This position requires above normal physical strength with the ability to handle up to 75lbs individually and over that with assistance. Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, twisting, crawling and reaching both to ground level and overhead. This position is subject to working in awkward positions and periods of prolonged walking or standing.
REQUIREMENTS
• A high school education or GED.
• Possess a valid Kansas Drivers' License (CDL preferred) and meet the driving performance standards as determined by management. MVR's may be reviewed annually for compliance, and any conviction or at-fault accidents should be immediately reported to management.
• Experience:
o Grounds Maintenance II - A minimum 12 months experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of cemeteries, parks, and/or grounds required.
• Principles, procedures, and equipment involved in the construction, maintenance, cleaning or repair of parks, grounds, public roads, or other related projects.
• Ability to operate equipment such as backhoes (required for Cemetery Maintenance II position), riding and farm tractors with PTO implements, dump trucks, snowplows, salt spreader, mowers, hand and power tools, and vehicles in a manner consistent with safety principles.
• Ability to operate equipment with standard or automatic transmission.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
