Position Details
The Campus Safety Department at The University of Tampa has a full-time position for a qualified Parking Enforcement Officer on the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift Monday through Friday. Parking and Traffic Support Services, a division of The University of Tampa Campus Safety Department, is responsible for the overall management of the parking management and traffic flow services. We are committed to providing guidance and assistance to the UTampa community and our guests with all their parking and traffic needs in a professional and courteous manner. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for patrolling campus parking lots and garages to ensure compliance with university parking rules and regulations providing safe and accessible parking to students, faculty/staff, volunteers, and visitors. This position serves as a University ambassador, enhancing the customer's parking and campus experience by providing excellent customer service to the UTampa community. This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Safety.
This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
Responsibilities
1. Patrol and resolve parking or traffic concerns within all surface parking lots and parking structures on the campus enforcing the university's parking rules and regulations by issuing citations for non-compliance.
2. Provide traffic control during special events that occur each year on campus such as move in/out, Gasparilla, etc.
3. Practice positive public relations with students, faculty/staff, volunteers, and visitors by answering questions and providing general information about the campus and surrounding area.
4. Assist in the collection of parking field data for annual lot inventories and utilization surveys.
5. Perform traffic control duties by directing traffic flow within established and overflow parking lots and on roads and streets during emergency situations and special events.
6. Assist with installing and retrieving appropriate barricades during specified events as needed.
7. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma.
2. One year of directly related experience in customer service, security, or traffic control.
3. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required to operate a motorized vehicle such as a golf cart.
4. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
5. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Evenings and weekends as required for special events.
