Job description

As a Barron's Top 100 RIA and one of Fortune's Best Workplaces, Mission Wealth is seeking a relationship-driven, growth-minded Business Development Advisor to help expand our national presence. If you're passionate about financial planning, enjoy building meaningful relationships, and thrive in a consultative sales environment, we'd love to meet you.

In this highly visible role, you'll serve as one of the first points of contact for prospective clients generated through our digital marketing efforts. You'll connect with qualified prospects, uncover their financial goals, educate them on Mission Wealth's planning-first approach, and guide them confidently through the early stages of their journey. Working alongside our award-winning marketing team and experienced wealth advisors, you'll play a critical role in converting opportunities into client relationships.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong sales instincts with financial planning knowledge and enjoys helping people take meaningful action toward their financial future. Rather than managing an ongoing book of business, your success will come from creating exceptional first impressions, building trust, and connecting prospective clients with the right advisory team.

Mission Wealth has provided comprehensive wealth management services to affluent families since 2000. Through our integrated, planning-first approach, we help clients navigate every stage of life with confidence, ensuring their financial strategies evolve alongside their goals. Our commitment to exceptional client service, innovation, and community involvement has made us one of the nation's fastest-growing independent registered investment advisors.

What you’ll do as a Business Development Advisor:

Lead Engagement & Sales Strategy

  • Respond promptly and professionally to qualified inbound leads generated through digital marketing channels, including our website, webinars, paid media, SEO, referrals, and strategic partnerships.
  • Conduct consultative discovery conversations to understand each prospect's goals, financial needs, and overall fit with Mission Wealth.
  • Clearly articulate Mission Wealth's planning-first philosophy, investment approach, and unique value proposition.
  • Evaluate and prioritize opportunities using Salesforce, Pardot, Catchlight, Zoom, and other CRM and lead intelligence tools.

Prospect Conversion & Financial Planning

  • Guide prospective clients through the sales process by educating them on comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies.
  • Partner with Wealth Advisors and internal specialists to prepare, present, and successfully convert planning engagements into long-term client relationships.
  • Develop tailored, value-based recommendations that align Mission Wealth's capabilities with each prospect's unique financial goals.
  • Serve as a trusted resource throughout the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition to the servicing advisory team while supporting successful client conversion.
  • Develop deep expertise in Mission Wealth's investment solutions, planning capabilities, and niche specialties to confidently address client questions and opportunities.

Business Development & Pipeline Management

  • Execute consistent follow-up strategies for new, active, and dormant prospects through phone, email, text messaging, and automated marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain an organized and accurate sales pipeline within Salesforce and Pardot, ensuring timely follow-up and exceptional CRM data quality.
  • Coordinate consultations, planning presentations, and implementation meetings while proactively managing reschedules, no-shows, and re-engagement opportunities.
  • Identify recurring prospect questions, objections, and lead quality trends, sharing insights that strengthen future marketing and sales initiatives.

Marketing & Sales Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to optimize messaging, nurture campaigns, and digital conversion strategies.
  • Provide ongoing feedback on lead quality, referral partners, campaign performance, and marketing ROI.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of sales processes, playbooks, scripts, KPIs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales leadership through regular pipeline reviews and strategy meetings to improve lead conversion and client experience.
  • Represent Mission Wealth by hosting educational webinars and virtual events designed to engage prospective clients and support business development initiatives.
  • Help shape Mission Wealth's digital growth strategy by sharing prospect feedback, market trends, and opportunities that improve lead generation and conversion.

Sales Operations & Client Experience

  • Support CRM reporting, lead routing, and sales operations to ensure efficient pipeline management.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, meeting coordination, and follow-up communications throughout the prospect journey.
  • Deliver a responsive, personalized, white-glove experience that reflects Mission Wealth's commitment to exceptional client service.

Who you are:

  • Relationship Builder. You genuinely enjoy connecting with people, building trust, uncovering their goals, and helping them take the next step toward financial confidence.
  • Consultative Sales Professional. You thrive in a relationship-driven sales environment, asking thoughtful questions, identifying opportunities, and guiding prospects toward the right solutions without high-pressure tactics.
  • Financial Planning Advocate. You believe in the value of comprehensive financial planning and enjoy educating prospective clients on how thoughtful advice can improve their lives.
  • Client-First Problem Solver. You listen carefully, think strategically, and tailor conversations to each prospect's unique goals, priorities, and concerns.
  • Organized & Process-Oriented. You understand that exceptional client experiences begin with timely follow-up, strong organization, accurate CRM management, and consistent execution.
  • Technology-Forward. You're comfortable leveraging CRM platforms, digital communication tools, and emerging AI technologies to improve productivity and create a seamless prospect experience.
  • Collaborative & Growth-Minded. You enjoy partnering with teammates across marketing, sales, and advisory teams, actively seek feedback, and are committed to continually strengthening your industry knowledge, sales skills, and professional development.

What You Bring as a Business Development Advisor:

  • 3+ years of success in business development, consultative sales, wealth management, or financial advisory roles, with financial services experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success converting opportunities into clients, including managing inbound and outbound lead pipelines, qualifying prospects, and consistently driving new business growth.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning principles. CFP®, Series 65, or equivalent financial planning knowledge required, or the ability to obtain the appropriate designation within 12 months.
  • Experience using CRM and sales technology, such as Salesforce, Pardot, or similar platforms, with exceptional organization and pipeline management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities, with a consultative, empathetic approach that inspires trust and confidence.
  • Confidence engaging prospective clients through phone, video, and digital communication while managing a robust pipeline without sacrificing a personalized experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while delivering Mission Wealth's signature white-glove client experience.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and families, with an understanding of their unique planning and investment needs.
  • Comfort using digital tools and AI-enabled technology to improve productivity, personalize prospect engagement, and enhance the client experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience preferred.
