Job description

SERVICE CENTER HELPER
Location: Kalamazoo
Work Environment: On-site Monday - Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm
Pay Rate: $20.80/hour
The Service Center Helper receives inventory, puts it into the relevant location, processes work orders, and creates documents for outbound parcel shipments while prioritizing the work orders based on commitment dates and customer needs. You will also organize jobs and facilities, learn products, and help service mechanics as needed when directed by the Shop Superintendent.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process inbound deliveries, verify information, verify counts, and inventory products.
  • Controls inventory log and assigns goods log.
  • Process domestic shipments through carrier systems (UPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Packaging of goods for shipment per corporate SOP
  • Makes local runs for pick-up and delivery
  • Maintains a clean and organized shipping and receiving area
  • Assist in daily shop cleaning
  • Assist SVC mechanics when needed
  • Familiar with use of micrometers, calipers, and gauges is a plus; willing to train the right individual.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and experience with parcel shipment software, Warehouse Management System (WMS) software, such as SAP, and/or inventory management software preferred.
  • Ability to build containers used for shipping.
  • Knowledge of UPS, FedEx, and other common shipping services.
  • Ability to use hand tools, table saws, drills and drivers, tape measure preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a strong team member.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • The ability to lift 40 pounds individually and team-lift heavier items.
Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of Shipping experience.
  • Forklift experience and certification, ability to pass company-provided training.
