Job description

Overall Job Summary

The Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely dispensing of medications. Key responsibilities include preparing and packaging orders, maintaining inventory, operating pharmacy equipment, adhering to quality and safety standards, and assisting in training new team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

Prescription Fulfillment: 

  • Prepare and package orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and neat presentation.
  • Pull medications, match names to prescription labels, and fill orders accurately.
  • Count, seal, and label medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Present labeled medications to the pharmacist for final verification.

Inventory Management: 

  • Assist with inventory control, including receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and identify any discrepancies.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of medications and supplies.
  • Equipment Operation: 
  • Operate pharmacy equipment, such as counters, scales, and automated dispensing systems (e.g., Parata machines), efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any malfunctions.

Quality and Safety: 

  • Adhere to strict quality standards and security measures to ensure medication safety and prevent errors.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation to promote efficiency and safety.

Teamwork and Training: 

  • Assist in training new pharmacy technicians, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other technicians to ensure smooth workflow and excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Required Qualifications

Experience: 1+ Years of pharmacy technician experience (preferred). Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) license in the state of practice). 


Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.


Professional Certifications:  None.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software and technology. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy standards and regulations.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
