District-Level Special Education Behavior Support Paraprofessional (RBT)JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 05/11/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 053491 LOCATION: Admin Special Education - 877 POSITION TITLE: District-Level Special Education Behavior Support Paraprofessional (RBT)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Help meet the behavioral and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities in the school setting. Assist with the implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP), Individual Education Plans (IEP), including direct implementation of behavior-analytic services. Work under the general supervision of principal, certified teacher, BCBA, and the Special Education Coordinator.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Encourage students to exhibit positive classroom and schoolwide behavior through the use of Positive Behavior Supports and reinforcement techniques, and model appropriate ways to do so.
  2. Perform task analyses for specific academic and behavioral tasks as needed.
  3. Analyze specific tasks to be performed and then implement systematic instruction and data collection procedures to teach the specific task.
  4. Assist in preparing or organizing materials for academic and behavioral tasks.
  5. Explain ABA procedures and involve campus paraprofessionals in training.
  6. Become proficient in students' communication methods and strategies.
  7. Work with classroom teacher(s) to determine effective strategies for fading their assistance while maintaining successful academic and behavioral success.
  8. Act as a trouble shooter/liaison to problem-solve situations that the student might encounter.
  9. Assist students with behavioral needs who may require physical guidance and prompting, physical restraint, or other strategies used in non-violent crisis intervention.
  10. Maintain professional relationship with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
  11. Maintain student confidentiality.
  12. Promote a positive attitude in reference to the school district in school and community settings.
  13. Obtain appropriate number of CEU hours required by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) in order to maintain the credential.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to work with children with disabilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of basic behavioral principles
  • Knowledge of Tier I Best Practices in the area of Positive Behavior Supports and classroom management
  • Experience working with children with a variety of disabilities and behavioral needs
  • CPI certified (Must obtain within 90 days of employment)
  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities and behavioral needs including students with autism
  • Willing to Complete 40 hours of training, pass the Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT) Competency Assessment, and pass the RBT examination within 1 semester of employment.
