Job Summary:

The Director of Labor and Delivery Services oversees the operational and strategic aspects of the labor and delivery unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves leadership in developing and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and optimize outcomes. Compliance with legal and regulatory standards, along with fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability, are paramount. The Director drives interdisciplinary communication, nurtures employee engagement, and enhances the overall patient experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the function, staffing, and budget monitoring of the labor and delivery unit
  • Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory standards, and care protocols
  • Optimize patient throughput and delivery of patient-centered care
  • Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within the unit and across departments
  • Direct labor and delivery nursing practice and develop nursing standards
  • Instill a culture of accountability for positive patient interactions
  • Elevate the patient experience through feedback mechanisms and strategic initiatives
  • Enhance employee engagement, recognition, and professional development
  • Collaborate with administrative team and physicians to enhance labor and delivery services

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education required

  • Current registered professional nurse license in state(s) of practice
  • BLS certification required; ACLS, NRP, FHM, RNC-OB preferred
  • 5+ years of healthcare experience in an acute care setting required
  • 3+ years of recent leadership experience in an acute care setting required
