What is a parallel?

In the context of computing and technology, 'Parallel jobs' refer to tasks or processes that are executed simultaneously across multiple processors or computers. This approach is commonly used in high-performance computing (HPC), data processing, and scientific research to speed up complex computations by breaking them into smaller, concurrent tasks. Parallel jobs can significantly reduce the time required to process large datasets or perform intensive calculations. They are managed using parallel computing frameworks and often require specialized software and hardware to coordinate the execution of multiple processes. Understanding how to design and manage parallel jobs is essential for roles in data science, engineering, and research fields.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a parallel?

To thrive as a Parallel Computing Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, mathematics, and parallel algorithms, often supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency with parallel programming languages (such as CUDA, OpenMP, or MPI), high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, and debugging tools is essential. Strong analytical thinking, collaborative teamwork, and effective problem-solving skills help you stand out in this field. These skills are vital for optimizing computational processes and ensuring efficient, scalable solutions in complex computing environments.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in parallel computing roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in parallel computing roles often encounter challenges such as debugging complex, concurrent code and optimizing performance across multiple processors. These issues require a solid understanding of parallel algorithms and experience with tools designed for performance profiling and debugging. Collaboration with team members is essential, as projects typically involve working closely with software engineers, system architects, and hardware specialists. To address these challenges, it's helpful to stay current with best practices, participate in code reviews, and leverage community resources and documentation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Parallel's enterprise sales team, overseeing pipeline development, discovery, and deal closing with enterprise buyers.

  • Navigate complex sales processes involving security reviews, procurement, legal negotiations, and multi-stakeholder engagement.

  • Develop and refine sales strategies, build the team, and ensure pipeline coverage, ramp time, and win rates meet targets.

Job description

About us

Parallel is a web infrastructure company. Our products are used by leading businesses in sales, marketing, insurance, and coding to build best-in-class AI agents with flexible and powerful programmatic access to the web.

We've raised $230 million from Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, First Round, and Terrain to build the web for AIs. We're currently valued at $2 billion and we're forming a world-class team of engineers, designers, marketers, sellers, researchers, and operational experts to achieve our mission.

Job: You'll lead Parallel's enterprise sales team, working alongside the most talent-dense GTM leaders and ICs in the business. You'll carry a piece of the pipeline yourself, running discovery and closing cycles with enterprise buyers so your coaching comes from doing the work, not just watching it. These are six-to-twelve month cycles with a buying committee instead of a buyer โ€” security review, procurement, legal redlines, a champion who has to sell internally for you when you're not in the room. You'll sharpen the playbook for navigating that process without losing momentum, build the ramp and coaching rhythm that gets new reps productive fast, and scale the team as pipeline grows. You'll partner with the head of Recruiting to build a dream team and with the head of GTM on segmentation. You're accountable for pipeline coverage, ramp time, and win rates across your team โ€” not just your own number.

You: Have led an enterprise sales team for at least 4 years and know how to navigate a room with a CTO or VP without blinking. You've run deals through security reviews, procurement, and multi-stakeholder legal negotiations, and you know how to keep a champion engaged and a deal alive through a six-month lull. You've sold to technical buyers and can hold your own in a conversation about LLMs, agents, or RAG without a technical co-pilot in the room. You know the difference between coaching someone through a deal and doing it for them, and you'd rather build reps up than carry them. You create your own pipeline instead of waiting for it, and you're allergic to hand-holding, both giving and receiving it. You want to take an existing team further, not inherit a blank slate or a fully solved function.

Life at Parallel

Our team works fully in-person, between our Palo Alto HQ and San Francisco office. We're a flat, talent-dense organization dedicated to solving technical and creative problems.

We seek like-minded individuals who share our passion for applying science, creativity, and consistency to big and complex problems with equally big outcomes. These are our values:

  • Own customer impact: It's on us to ensure real-world outcomes for our customers.

  • Obsess over craft:Perfect every detail because quality compounds.

  • Accelerate change: Ship fast, adapt faster, and move frontier ideas into production.

  • Create win-wins: Creatively turn trade-offs into upside.

  • Make high-conviction bets: Try and fail. But succeed an unfair amount.

Compensation & benefits

  • Competitive salary

  • Generous equity

  • Visa sponsorships

  • 401K plans

  • Daily lunch & office snacks

  • Dinner at the office

  • Unlimited vacation

  • Caltrain pass reimbursement
