General Description The City of Hamilton is an Equal Opportunity Employer The City of Hamilton Law Department is pleased to offer an exciting internship opportunity for graduate or undergraduate students of any major interested in careers or advanced study in law, public administration, and municipal governance. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal law, offering a unique opportunity to work with experienced attorneys and legal support staff and gain valuable insights into a variety of legal subjects as well as local government administration. As a legal intern, under the direction of attorneys and their paralegal support staff, you will be expected to: Assist with legal research and preparation of memoranda, briefs, and opinions Participate in the preparation and review of contracts, ordinances, and other legal documents Attend court hearings, city meetings, and administrative proceedings Collaborate with city attorneys and legal support staff on projects as needed Project assignments will depend on Law Department needs with consideration given to the intern's skills and expressed interests Complete a minimum of 100 work hours during the semester.
